Preheat oven to 400F. Cook bacon on parchment-lined baking sheet for 15 - 20 minutes until bacon is crisp.

While bacon is cooking, slice onion into thin rings and saute over medium heat for 10 minutes. Add Worcestershire and cook additional 5 minutes.

Form beef into 3 equal patties, about 5 inches diameter. Make indent in center to prevent patty from puffing up. Season with salt and pepper. Brush both sides with canola oil. Preheat grill or heavy skillet to medium high and cook patties for 4 minutes on each side. Brush top side with barbecue sauce and cook additional 4 minutes. Turn off heat and top with cheese. Cover with lid or close grill until cheese is melted.

Heat buns in skillet or on grill for 1 minute. Assemble burger: lettuce on bottom, tomato, patty, bacon, onions and bun top.
